My favorite subject this term was Forensic Psychology.
This subject is mainly related to the role of psychology in the justice system, essentially as an assistant in the quality of an expert ,which means that we know about topics that the justice system doesn’t know. In this path, the understanding of this topics provides help to a better exercise of the law.
The classes basically consisted in expository classes about the role of a forensic psychologist and the topics related to the exercise of this role and the knowledge that is needed, we reviewed and criticized the techniques that are usually put into practice, we learnt about the structure of an investigation design in this field, the elements that are minimally required in the elaboration of the expert report, the differences between the clinical setting and the forensic setting and, most importantly, how the psychology interacts with the law. In the classes there’s always a space for questioning the practice of the role, the topics exposed and the vision about the justice system, even making comparisons (carefully) with other countries. Thus, the opportunity of knowing about the field of forensic psychology, the matters that are involved, the way that the role is exercised in our country, and mainly, the thoughts and critics about all this matters is why I really liked this subject, we learnt about an emergent field in our country, we introduced into a new area of knowledge and that’s just amazing for me.
